Mishkat Visitor Centre
This is a project I worked on at AllofUs. It's not a personal project.
AllofUs were asked to design an interactive experience for the Central Hall at The King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. KACARE was commissioned by the current King of Saudi Arabia to encourage, excite and inform the Saudi youth of today about the benefits and innovations of atomic and renewable energies. Our piece is the central exhibit within this centre and is housed within a 27 metre long room.
This was an ambitious project involving projection mapping and multi user interaction. We developed custom software, written in openFrameworks, to project rich visuals in real-time onto the surface of three 7 metre long wave-shaped tables. 9 Kinect cameras are used to detect user movement over the tables and trigger interactive animation and content accordingly. The software had to be installed onsite in Riyadh, at which point the kinect inputs and projector ouputs had to be calibrated to match the physical space.
See this video on the AllofUs vimeo channel and read more about it.
