LAI is an airport installation that allows you to capture your creative identity. Together with Work Club, we (AllofUs) created an interactive experience for Ballantine's that would allow airport visitors to explore and generate their own Impression.

The piece uses Kinect sensors to track user motion, proximity, colour and depth. These realtime inputs are combined with algorithmically generated visual and behavioural effects including depth-of-field focus and aperture, lighting intensity and colour and motion trails created by fading and scaling. The resulting impressions are therefore greatly varied, despite being generated by the same system. All visuals are entirely programmatically generated: no pre-made graphical assets are used and no post-production takes place.

The software renders at 60fps in realtime at a huge 1366 x 2304 resolution across three 46" LCD displays, providing a two metre high viewing experience. It was built using openFrameworks 0071, various GLSL shaders and ofxUI. The installation is housed within two beautiful corian clad structures.

Once an impression has been captured, it's automatically uploaded to a public gallery where it can be shared to facebook, twitter and pinterest. A unique URL for each image is generated and printed out on a thermal receipt printer for people to take away with them and access later.

LAI is was first installed at Schiphol, Amsterdam and proceeded to make appearances in Zurich and Budapest.
